The message of Isaiah centers on the reality of God’s sovereignty over all things. God
saved Israel from destruction by leaving a remnant (Isaiah 10:21). He preserved their
lives through capture and exile in a foreign land. He provided hope for the future when
there was none to be found. The message of Isaiah points to and proclaims the good
news, the gospel, that God saves sinners. Sinners cannot save themselves. “If the
gospel that you cannot be your own savior, but God can save you totally, does not thrill you, it’s probably an irritant to your self-importance, lust for control, and moral
superiority.” This need not be so. God today offers you salvation, protection, and hope in
the good news that he alone saves. God offers the thrill and revival of the truth of gospel
to us through the prophet Isaiah.
